Heat safety and rest breaks

Riding through summer heat is hard, physical work. These are the habits that keep riders out of hospital — take them seriously.

Drink before you're thirsty

By the time you feel thirsty you're already behind. Drink water at every pickup, not just at breaks. Avoid energy drinks as your main fluid — they dehydrate.

Use the shade and take your breaks

Rest in shade whenever you're waiting on an order. In peak heat hours, take your full break indoors or in shade — a break skipped in the sun is paid for later.

Know the warning signs

Headache, dizziness, cramps, or when you stop sweating in the heat — stop riding, get to shade, drink, and cool your neck and wrists. If it doesn't pass quickly, seek help. Never ride through it.

Dress for the sun

Light colours, covered skin, and your helmet visor down. Sunburn makes the heat hit harder.
